Chasing Coexistence

Daniel Kutata is a community ranger at the centre of a growing human-elephant conflict along a vital migratory route in Southern Kenya. Crop-raiding elephants are learning to break through electric fences, devastating farmers' livelihoods as a result. As Daniel struggles to maintain a fragile peace, the film explores the emotional weight borne by those on conservation's frontline.

For this project, myself and a second camera operator camped remotely with Big Life Foundation's Mobile 2 Unit for over two weeks, capturing raw, observational moments to tell a powerful character-led story that highlights the vital importance of community-led conservation.
